antiX_pre_final available at topcat's site, 409MB.

http://tomlinux.ca/testing

user: antiXtester
password: fluxbox

For those that still have rc5 you can save a lot of download time and use the xdelta patch (28MB).

Changes are as mentioned earlier in this thread:

gqview replaces pornview...for obvious reasons..
hp printing libs included
new wallpaper added, and some others removed
xdm login screen altered.
nxclient included
qtparted and gparted kept, as some people have had problems with gparted
root login has the same fluxbox menu as demo login (though please get into the habit of logging in as user/demo!)
antiXtips tidied up a bit.

To do:
Better documentation.
icewm to be better configured.

This will be available for testing for 2 weeks (I'm away on my hols on Monday) and if all is ok, a final will be released in early July.

enjoy.

I also have an AMD6K that I put Antix on. I have it set to 1024X768. Set it using F3 before I installed. I have not gotten the sound working, how did you do that?

Sorry for the time delay....
There is a ALSA configuration app. I'll look when I get home and see where it is and then post back here.
It found the SB16 card just fine.

Err actually it isn't.

You can use the " MEPIS assistant to directly transfer the live CD to USB. It will run in Live CD mode, and not in installed mode, but if that is OK with you, just fire up menu > MEPIS > MEPIS system assistant and choose MEPIS USB key.

You can do this from an installed version, or from the live CD if I am not mistaken, but I am not sure.

Just try it out and see if you like it."

I was referring to antix. Is there an assistant in that? I ahve not downloaded and run antix yet.

I am missing something;. I just downloaded and ran 6.5rc5-32 live. I saw no Mepis assistants. Also, how can I adjsut the screen resolution? It must be defaulted to something more than 1078x768, which my old monitor doesn's handle well.

Any screen shots of these?

Don't login as root as you won't see the assistants in rc5. You will in the newly uploaded pre_final.
Login as demo, in fluxbox menu, Admin/tools>Mepis Utilities.
Password+root.

For screen resolution. hit F3 at grub-boot menu. You may have to choose small install from grub menu.

Could you not also create an additional partition on the USB stick and use it for your settings? (I've never tried this, but it seems reasonable...)

Chris

Sounds ok, but you would have to then copy/paste those settings back into the livecd /home folder I guess for it to work.
