Default Mepis 8.5 Beta3, feedback and bug reports

Let's use this thread as we inch closer to Final.

Warren has been very responsive to Community input during this development cycle, so I am hoping we can continue to provide quality testing results.

On new Toshiba Satellite U500 notebook, live 64 cd will render login screen in vesa only.
Default mode hangs rendering login screen and requires reboot. Ctrl-Alt-Bksp does nothing.
Running Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 with nvidia GeForce G210M with 512 MB discrete graphics memory.
(for ref: live cd's for Sidux 2009-3-64 and openSUSE 11.2-64 both seem to boot ok in default modes)>
Wireless does not work. No driver for Realtek 8172, rev 10 chip.

Sound works after adding speaker channel in kmix.

Is the nvidia chip new and would one expect it to function properly if installed on hd and driver installed using sgfxi?
Edit: Installed on hd results in same problem. Video freeze on rendering login screen and must be powered off to restart.

I have not loaded the beta, but I have tried kernel 2.6.32-1 and it does not have ndiswrapper. Also the ndiswrapper-source does not compile with module-assistant.

I wonder why this was left out?

Mike

Try this upstream version, and run m-a update before building the module.

I got about 46 updated files yesterday and everything looks as if I have the full update. It messed up my wireless on my mini 9 however I got it sorted with wicd. I am writing from it now. It is a bit slow but this is a very small system as well.

Just installed b3 on Acer desktop running amd 64 bit dual core with nvidia GeForce 9400 graphics. Installed latest nvidia driver using sgfxi.

All appears to work beautifully except wireless Logitec mouse which has always been an issue on any version of KDE4.

I've done two installs, my main computer and my Lenovo laptop, I had to change alsa config to =lenovo and there are some persistent boot errors, that I will give more detail on later, I'm off to do some last minute shopping, unless I can find some magic time I won't be back online until after X-Mas. I hope you all are having a good one. Cheers.

Kelean the answer to your question is yes updates (apt-get upgrade) should always bring you to same level as the just released iso.

(Please be aware that this is a testing phase and things could get broken for a short while because of a upgrade.)
