Default One browser to rule them all.

I started to fell in love with Google Chrome even though I am a long time Opera fan, and even though Chrome is only an experimental release on Linux, and even though it doesn't render Mepislovers correctly.

For people interested to experiment here's the Wiki article that I wrote about it: http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php/Chrome

No, it doesn't have adblock and it doesn't have mouse gestures (there might be some add ons but I really didn't search for them) and bookmarks sync works for now only on Windows version, it also doesn't print yet -- but hey it still has become my browser of choice at least for couple of days.

PS. Warren also tweeted about trying Chrome http://twitter.com/mepisguy

+1 I'm finding the stability, speed and intuitive function something I miss in other browsers. And this is still beta!
Wanna visit a site I hit regularly - type the first letter (or two) and bang - there it is, top of the list already highlighted - so you just hit <return> and there it is - in a second or two!
Won't be using it for online transactions just yet mind, not gonna risk possible crashes/security holes that may happen/exist...

Right on Adrian,
I have used FF since it was first available on windoz and then when I moved to sm 3.1.
I still think FF is great but agree that chrome shows real promise

I find myself in Google Chrome more often than in FF nowadays.
I like it too.

Regards, Ko

Please explain what makes Chrome better than all the other browsers.

Better is subjective. But at least it is different: http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/index.html

Try anandtech.com on the right are news items from the Daily Digest. At the bottom click 'more news' and look for a four part browser comparison. It may answer some questions.'

Some of the benefits:
1. Fast
2. Doesn't slow down when things are being loaded in other tabs
3. If a a site crashes it crashes the tab not the browser
4. Streamlined interface that gives at least 10% space for browsing than FF default, in my opinion the placement of the tabs is much more convenient in Chrome.
5. Super optimized for Google Docs and GMail.
6. Light when you have only couple of tabs open (but it does consume more memory when you have lots a tabs because each individual tab has its own process)
7. Smart and fast interface, can drag and drop tabs out and in the window.
8. in Windows but this will come for Linux too, it makes it easy to create "web application" basically it creates a link that opens the website in its own window, for example you can create a GMail "web application" icon on the desktop and when you click on it it looks like a normal program -- this is coupled with Gears which makes the content available offline (Gears is not available in Opera as far as I know and doesn't work in Firefox 64 bit)
9. By the way, Google will support a 64 bit browser, Mozilla has problems to do that, they do not even offer official 64 bit builds and some features don't work in 64 bit Firefox (TraceMonkey for example)
10. Did I mentioned it's fast?

Oh, and any of you tried to right-click on a web page and select "inspect element"?
