First up - thanks to Marcos and Tim for their work on both the servers and the addresses. The Mepis CR Team is proud to announce the full and final list of repository addresses.
************************************************* SPECIAL NOTE - MEPIS 8.5 USERS For users of 8.5 - it is STRONGLY recommended that you do not use the 8.0 CR Repos - some packages may work, others may not. 8.0 CR is not fully compatible with MEPIS 8.5 release. ************************************************* Community Server Addresses We suggest you delete any existing server addresses for the Community Repository from your sources list (it is easiest to do via synaptic), and replace them with the following. Great work guys - these additional repos add significant extra and newer version packages to the already huge Debian+Mepis base.

I've made a little deb package that will also install the addresses into /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ in an "add-on" file. It will appear transparent to the user, but the URLs are not in sources.list, instead they are in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ml_community_repo.list Only the main CR is enabled by default; I also added the deb-src URLs. It would also be easy to make a deb package that will add additional useful sources, such as the compiz-fusion packages from Shame's repo, or the KDE 4 repo from debian-desktop. Any more suggestions? Attached is the deb package and the sources for it.

I don't know if this is because I'm using KDE 4 - but I got this error: Quote:

Hmmm--any more failure reports? Maybe I should zip up the deb, since we have had corrupted downloads from attachments before. Let me try an install on a VM...

Just downloaded and installed the deb in a 32 bit VM with no error message.
md5sum should be 781719f96d422689eabc970a02a9a86d Maybe it's a 64 bit issue? Anybody else try an install on that architecture? |

just tried on 64bit gnome the deb installed without any problems. ml_community_repo.list was installed in /etc/apt/sources.list.d.
I do right click and install debs via gdebi-gtk in gnome.

Odd, then...maybe Brooko has a bad download...or maybe just more proof that KDE 4 stinks!
Steve (ducking and running) PS. I installed with gdebi also... If anyone is not clear what I did in the sources, I just stuck the file I wanted to install in the /debian folder, and added an addmlcr.install text file there that specified where I wanted it to be installed. You could use this technique to install KDE servicemenus also, or pretty much any file anywhere you want it to go. Executable scripts need a little extra, I think...unless cdbs handles it automatically. |
