Mepis 8 Community Restricted Repository On Line

I'm pleased to announce that we finally have the Restricted Community Repository open for business. This repo contains packages which can be patent encumbered or illegal under some jurisdictions like those contained in debian-multimedia:

Mepis 8 Only

While still as root, then run apt-get update, then close konsole.

deb http://restricted.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/ mepis8cr restricted restricted-non-free

deb http://restricted.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/testrepo/ mepis8cr test-restricted

You can add this automatically to your Mepis 8 sources list by opening a konsole, and as root (it's all one line):

echo '# Mepis Community Restricted and Restricted Test Repo' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo 'deb http://restricted.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/ mepis8cr restricted restricted-non-free' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo '# deb http://restricted.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/testrepo/ mepis8cr test-restricted' >> /etc/apt/sources.list

While still as root, then run apt-get update, then close konsole.

There is no Mepis 7 Test Repo.

You can add this automatically to your Mepis 7 sources list by opening a konsole, and as root:

echo '# Mepis Community Restricted Repo' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo 'deb http://restricted.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/ mepis7cr restricted restricted-non-free' >> /etc/apt/sources.list

While still as root, then run apt-get update, then close konsole.

Notes

1. I payed on advance one year of hosting. We are still making the necessary arrangements to open a donation page
2. Some restricted packages may be missing (I had to remove a few ones in the moving but we are working on it).

Sorry for the long time It took getting it running but looking for a proper affordable hosting was slightly problematic.

Is this an extra to the Community repos at teharris?

Yes. It is extra to the teharris, it contains only the restricted packages.
