Default KDE file assocs in Mepis 8

I seem to remember my 1st experience with Mepis being that everything worked out of the box. That is, all the plugins, codecs were available right after completing the Live disc install. Maybe my memory is clouded but things seem slightly different today. I downloaded the Nintendo Rad Racer MIDI for a bit of nostalgia and wanted to play it. After opening my Downloads folder in Konqueror there appeared to be an association with .mid as it had a little keyboard icon but a double-click inspired Konqueror to question me which app should be used to open the file. Am I missing some KDE stuff? I'm thinking of doing the whole KDE extras, bells/whistles install from Synaptic but I thought I'd ask here to see if I'm overlooking something obvious. I've had similar experience with a coupe other things that required me to download extra packages but I can't remember what. Maybe I should put together a list of what I'd typically look for in a Linux install and post it here for additional thoughts.

Maybe the application for MIDIs is KMid?

I have the impression that when new versions of Mepis are made the developers don't always erase the configuration files (if there's something they're removing).

Thanx MEC! Yes I already knew where to go I was just too lazy to go there. KMid is the app but FWIW, there's a little more involved than just installing it. I'll be posting my experience on my blog tonight if you want to know the details.
