Talking Completed Final Art - Mepis 8

Hello all.
I have attached to this post a zip file with completed final art for Mepis 8. Inside the zip is also full instructions for install into either Mepis 7 or Mepis 8.

This is a very comprehensive theme, and I'd appreciate you all trying this, and if it exceeds your expectations - please MAKE SURE Warren uses it. I've emailed it to him tonight.

Kudos go to my partners Larry (ljogerst) and Henry (Utopia) without whose tireless work none of this would have happened. They are an amazing team to work with - talented, insightful, and flexible. The finished product is very much a combined and equal mix of my, Larry's and Henry's work. We think it is worthy of the great product that will be Mepis 8. We hope you will agree.

I've asked both Larry and Henry to check in on this thread and post a quick comment. When they do - I'd appreciate if you could show your thanks.

Finally - this will be my last "official" act for the art team. I advised Henry and Larry that I will now step aside to concentrate on other areas. I'll still be available for help / advice etc - but after 2 major releases, I'd rather step aside and give others the opportunity to contribute.

Thanks for your input and support. Please enjoy the scheme!

Thanks Brooko and Larry for making this possible. Also a great thanks to Mepislovers community for their excellent choice of wallpaper. Working in a team was a good experience.

Well, sir! Great job, everyone. You have surpassed all expectations in a grand way. Have you started working on SM 9 yet?

Hi MepisLovers,
It was fun working on this artwork for you. It was a great opportunity to give something back to a great bunch of people (the MepisLovers community). Hope you like it... if not... then please help us out on the next release :0. Brooko & Utopia were awesome to work with. Honest, hard working, flexible and talented to say the least. We may not have pleased everyones tastes, but wear the theme for awhile, we think you'll enjoy it. Now, I may finally have some time to install the 1st Beta instead of just booting it up for 5 minutes!

You guys did great! I have had that background now for a couple of months, and still like it very much. And the new KMenu icon looks terrific too.

Is there anything we can do to support its adoption by WW? How about if everybody who likes it sends an email to dev@mepis.org with the exact same subject line: "I recommend the new artwork for M8"--a write-in campaign so to speak?

Jerry, I don't think it is a good idea to bombard WW with emails - it might be counter-productive.

Operative word here being 'wanted'

... or 'know'

... or 'our'

FYI -
Here's two more things you can do to make the new logo more effective:
1. You can drag a copy of the new "kmenu.png" logo from /usr/share/icons to /usr/share/apps/ksmserver/pics/ and rename it "shutdownkonq.png"
2. Also drag a copy of the "kmenu.png" to /usr/share/apps/kdm/pics and rename this one "shutdown.jpg"

The new logo will then be seen when logging out & at the login screen if you reboot.
