Default Problems with configuring dial-up modem in new Mepis 7.0

Hello,
I just want to say five things about problems with dial up networking in new Mepis 7.0.
First,
I cannot find compiled kernel module for Intel536EP, Lucent or something to work in Mepis 7.0 (usual place /lib/2.6-xx/modules/char/drivers/ or /lib/2.6-xx/modules/misc in past.) In Mepis 6.0 DVD these drivers are
on the DVD compiled. In Mepis 6.5(i use yet this version for internet connection with KPPP and Intel 536EP ) exist on the Mepis pool compiled driver for my modem and is possible to download it via Synaptic with earlier version Mepis 6.0
On the Mepis 7.0 installed on my second hard drive i cannot find something to help me for dial-up. Mepis 7.0 not have Intel or Lucent modem compiled driver in CD or to download on Mepis pool.In past for me and many other support for dial-up modems is first thing why should use Mepis Linux.
Mepis 7.0 CD have not kernel headers. How to compile modem driver without kernel source code? How to download these 3.3 MB of kernel headers without internet connection? Please ask Mepis developers to fix this!
My problem is next.I have manual downloaded and installed kernel headers for Mepis 7.0 from Mepis pool(thanks to Mepis 6.0 LiveDVD), and Intel536.ko is compiled &installed OK.My modem is finded in KPPP and dial OK.But KPPP cannot connect me on internet. After minute or two i have
broken connection with error 1(no password is send to host).
My login script in past (work in Mepis 6.5) is:
Send username
Send password
but in Mepis 7.0 connecting with this is impossible. Mepis 6.5 connect me without configuring anything in /etc/ppp.Do you have idea how to make Mepis 7.0 to connect on internet with my Intel536EP modem?
Thanks ,Postar

Lightbulb This version of Intel536 should work

Please have a look at this thread: http://www.mepislovers.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=10972
Only more recent versions of the Intel536 driver seem to work with Mepis 7.0; the Mepis 6.5 version will not.

If you can't compile the module yourself, here's a temporary download link for the module which I compiled for Mepis 7.0.

Hope this works for you; let us know the outcome.

Default

Another user got his dialup modem to work by setting flow control to "none" and speed to 115900 kbps.
