I started to install rc2 into my laptop so I can show it off to a friend this weekend. At about 20% in progress I decided to check on my laundry, figuring that the computer would be waiting for me when I got back. I didn't take too long about 20 minutes....and the laptop went into hibernation. No biggie, I think and press the power button to turn it back on. But now unfortunately, the screen is black, neither a usb, ps2 mouse, or touch pad will respond. The computer is on....just dead to me
. I guess I can start over again, but is there any way I can get it back up?Thanks, Erika Last edited by lucky9 : 03-10-2010 at 12:05 PM. Reason: double post |

If this were to happen again you need only to tap the Space bar or move the mouse. But I do believe you'll need to reinstall that (partial) installation.

To elaborate on lucky9's correct statement, the system did not hibernate, the screen just went blank. You will find that this is also the default after a period of time for a HD installation. Once installed this behavior can be modified by clicking on the Power management icon in the panel.

I could tap it with a hammer it wasn't going to change, lol. I ended up restarting the whole process again....this time making sure the plug was securely in. And everything installed well. Now, I just need it to find my wireless card....
Thanks, Erika |
