To install root password is root

Use VM option for installing in VirtualBox

Use the sgfxi script to install nVidia / ATI drivers, can also be installed to the live DVD
at the login screen press Alt +N
login as root and run
sgfxi -c

Up to date as of 2 pm GMT 21/09/09

DO NOT USE SYNAPTIC TO UPGRADE THE SYSTEM OR INSTALL NEW APPS, synaptic has no brains, aptitude has.

Do not install and use the smxi script to update the system

The recommended way to keep up to date or install new apps is by using aptitude, not Synaptic. ie. in Konsole as root

#aptitude update
#aptitude full-upgrade
To install applications from Lenny :- #aptitude install name-of-app.
To install applications from Testing :- #aptitude -t testing install name-of-app.
To install applications from Unstable :- #aptitude -t unstable install name-of-app.

Note:- the Mepis 8.5 repo has been removed, if you choose to add it and enable it you will be downgrading KDE 4.3 as it is NOT up to date.

Well right now it is a pretty slow download, 2 days to complete. I will also seed as soon as I get it, but it may be a while if no more seeders show up.

As noted above, Wayne is having some technical problems right now, which leaves me alone at present, as a Seeder. However, and hopefully, this will change as more of the Torrent Team group enter the swarm with the full files. This is the first time for the Torrent Team to try a new method with multiple initial seeders, and we have some kinks to work out, with communication between individuals, ant the timing of letting these loose in the wild at LinuxTracker. You should continue to see some additional seeders enter the swarm, which will speed things up -- so please try to (continue) be patient. Any of you who do have these complete files, and have verified the md5sums, please download the pointer files from LinuxTracker and help. *upload speed, upload speed,...*
